Now Viewing: jaune_arcTag type: Character A blonde teen boy who wears armor on the top of his body and jeans for the bottom half. He is one of the main characters of RWBY. Unlike the other students at Beacon Academy, he is quite ignorant of many matters in the world and is very clumsy to the point that others doubt his ability to become a hunter. He often gets little respect from others and is frequently the victim of humiliating accidents. He also likes to flirt with any attractive girl he sees, particularly Weiss who he falls in love with. Unfortunately, he is not very good at it and ends up making a fool of himself. However, he is a friendly boy who gets along well with Ruby Rose, becoming her first friend at Beacon. He also gets along well with Pyrrha Nikos who is very patient with him and teaches him about things he should know. She unlocks his 'Aura,' a special ability that everyone with souls have. Aura allows people to be able to perform superhuman feats of strength and endurance. Jaune is special in that he has an especially large amount of Aura. Although he appears ineffectual, he demonstrates the ability to be an effective leader and strategist once he is placed into the heat of battle during training. His performance impresses the Beacon Academy staff enough that he is nominated as the leader of his own team, JNPR. Unfortunately, his relative weakness as an individual combatant makes him an easy target for the bully Cardin Winchester. Jaune is very aware of his weaknesses and feels deeply frustrated over them especially since he is descended from a family of male warriors. He had also faked his transcripts so that he could get into Beacon and continue his family's legacy. At the same time, he insists on trying to solve his personal problems himself even though his friends are willing to help him. However, he eventually realizes that his insistence on solving his own issues and ignoring his teammates is actually hurting them and he takes up Pyrrha's offer to train him and his combat prowess steadily improves. While Jaune is grateful for Pyrrha's help, he often fails to notice Pyrrha's feelings for him due to him being smitten with Weiss, which Pyrrha is painfully aware of. Jaune gives up on Weiss when he realizes that Weiss loves Neptune. Fortunately for Pyrrha, Jaune eventually realizes and reciprocates Pyrrha's feelings because she is the only person who believed in him from the start. Unfortunately, Jaune ends up heartbroken again when Pyrrha falls in battle during the Grimm invasion of Beacon, making his team the first present day team to lose one member. Unlike the majority of the cast, his weapon is a comparatively simple sword and shield with no special modifications besides his shield being retractible. He is also a rare example of a male character being named after the iconic French historical heroine Jeanne D'arc. He and his team are based off of characters who at one point disguised themselves as the opposite gender. Although Jaune is lacking in combat skill, he is highly proficient at dancing, a fact that was first revealed in a rig test done by Monty. His dancing ability is later shown in canon during the second season. Jaune picked up his dancing skills from his many sisters. He is voiced by Miles Luna who is also one of the writers of RWBY's story. His theme song is "Cold," composed by Jeff Williams and performed by Casey Lee Williams, which is about Jaune's feelings after Pyrrha passes away.
