| I have been using MAL for about 10 years at this point and I understand I might be in the minority here with my request (I did search the forums and did not find anyone talking about this issue specifically) The problem is that I am a very casual watcher. And There are tons of animes that are seasonal. So I personally use the "ON HOLD" part of my list in order to keep track of the animes that I have started, watched one or a few seaons but that are not finished (that have new seasons, are ongoing yearly, etc.) However, the website resets any animes that you put as "on hold" that are not yet aired to the "plan to watch"... which REALLY messes up my list every single time... because i have hundreds of animes i "plan to watch one day" ... probably when I retire in a few years... but sometimes I just wish to check if one of the animes I have already started has a new season that has aired or is completed... When I get the email that a new anime has been added to the database, and if it is an anime that I have already watched some seasons of it, I immediately add it to my "on hold" list... however, when i come back the new day/week/month, it has been automatically changed to "plan to watch"... so now its basically lost in all of those i plan to watch and i pretty much forget about it... Why is the website forcing people to use it a certain way and not allowing people to decide how they manage their own lists? If I put an anime "on hold" that I have not watched a single episode yet, is it not the exact same as another that has not aired yet? I understand it is "somewhat similar" to this in the pinned post : """ An anime entry keeps showing up in my "plan to watch" list even though I keep moving it to "currently watching". Anime entries with the status "not yet aired" can't be set to watching. Once a day an automatic process checks all lists and moves these entries back to plan to watch. """ However, I think it is kind of different thing because im not watching it yet, i just want to keep track of it outside of my "plan to watch" massive list... This makes the website so tedious and pretty much unusable for me personally, so I would sincerely request that this tiny "feature" be updated if possible.
